What are black holes?

What is a black hole?

A black hole is a space where even light cannot escape. It is an empty space with high gravitational force. The space beyond the black hole is considered "irreversible" space. There is no escape from the black hole due to its high gravitational pull

How a black hole in a galaxy was first photographed?

For the first time, a team of astronomers have been able to capture an image of a black hole in a galaxy on camera. It is about 40 billion kilometers in diameter and three times the size of Earth. Scientists call it a "monster." The black hole, which is about 500 million kilometers away, was captured with the help of a network of 8 telescopes located in several parts of the world.

A network of 8 telescopes

There is not a single powerful telescope in the world that can photograph a black hole. Therefore, a network of telescopes made up of 8 powerful telescopes was used for this purpose. The telescopes were located at eight different locations. Volcanoes in Hawaii and Mexico, volcanoes in Arizona and the Sierra Nevada, the Atacama Desert in Chile, as well as Antarctica were among the locations where the telescopes were located.

The black hole was photographed by a network of 8 telescopes called the 'Event Horizon Telescope' (EHT).

According to Professor Phalke, the photograph shows a very bright "ring of fire" that appears around a circular black hole. The cause of that bright accumulation is that highly combustible air falls into the cavity. Even at such a distance, it can be seen from Earth because it emits more light than the billions of stars in the galaxy. The gas enters the black hole through the edge of the dark circle. It has a high gravitational pull and does not escape even light.

Dr. Siri Youncy, of University College London, who was part of the team that built the telescope network to capture the image, said the theoretical physicists and Hollywood filmmakers compared the images to black holes.

"The theoretical calculations are very similar to this photograph. This proves once again that Einstein is right, ”he said.

Through the first photograph of the black hole, researchers will have the opportunity to study such mysterious celestial bodies. No one knows exactly how the series of bright rays around the black hole was created.
